This was an entertaining episode to listen to, as I enjoyed hearing about the traditions you guys you grew up with. While I’m definitely familiar with some of them, despite being Filipino American, I actually didn’t grow up with any of them.
Elaine, I was very interested in hearing about how you grew up celebrating Hanukkah in school, despite not being Jewish. As someone who didn’t know too much about Judaism until I was a teenager (via an old flame), it’s interesting to hear someone else’s experience of being exposed to that particular faith.

Thanks Lola! I learned about Hanukkah because the elementary school I went to celebrated both Christmas and Hanukkah! I also went to school with Jewish kids who shared their experiences with us. They learned about Christmas and we learned about Hanukkah! My teachers had us do Christmas and Hanukkah activities in school.
