The visually compelling film quietly (and loudly) interrogates the power dynamics in Philippine society through a normal day at a posh golf course outside of Manila. FILIPIÑANA hits so many issues – classism, racism, colonialism, sexism, regionalism, and diaspora – in just an hour and 40 minutes. It was recently selected to represent the Philippines at the Oscars as best international film. FILIPIÑANA is truly a piece of art that will make you think and think and think, if you let it.
